Description Full-Time, Tenure-Track Faculty Position Sauk Valley Community College (SVCC), a comprehensive institution dedicated to academic excellence, invites applications for a Full-Time, Tenure-Track Multi-Craft Faculty opening available for the Fall 2026 semester.
The Opportunity: Faculty Role and Compensation This is a nine-month, campus-based position offering stability and professional growth. Compensation: Salary is competitive, based on education and experience, and may be augmented by summer teaching and overload opportunities. Tenure Track: This position offers a path to tenure.
Work Environment and Schedule This is a campus-based position, with full-time faculty expected to be regularly present for core institutional responsibilities. Examples of Duties Core Faculty Duties and Responsibilities The Faculty member is responsible for instructional excellence, curriculum development, and institutional service, all while vigorously supporting the mission of the learning college.
Instruction, Assessment, and Curriculum
Mission Alignment: Support and promote the philosophy and mission of this learning College, using them as guidelines in decision making.
Instructional Adaptation: Regularly assess student learning in the classroom and adapt instruction accordingly to maximize student success.
Assessment Process: Participate in the established college-wide process for assessing student learning, including generating and sharing classroom assessment data.
Curriculum Review: Regularly review the need for courses, programs, and other curriculum changes in accordance with the college-wide strategic planning process.
Expertise: Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field of instruction.
Student Support and Advising
Progress Monitoring: Keep an accurate grade, log attendance within the Learning Management System (LMS), and maintain student progress records for each student.
Early Intervention: Inform students by the fifth week of the semester of class work below the "C" level. Records for students in jeopardy of failing will be submitted at the end of the fourth, eighth, and twelfth week.
Office Hours: Establish, post, and keep office hours available for student conferences at times convenient for students.
Student Guidance: Advise students when appropriate and cooperate with the Counseling staff on student problems associated with the instructor's class.
Maintain Schedule: Maintain the scheduled class hours assigned.
Administrative and Service Responsibilities
Institutional Goals: Assume responsibility, as a staff member, for accomplishing the goals and objectives of the College.
Professional Development: Develop, in consultation with the immediate supervisor, an annual set of goals for the instructional area prior to the beginning of each school year.
Meetings: Attend all division/program/area meetings, faculty discussion hours (forums), committee meetings, and other meetings for which they have a professional responsibility.
Reporting: Prepare reports upon request by the appropriate supervisor and fulfill departmental responsibilities.
Record Submission: Turn in all official records to the office of admissions and records and the appropriate supervisor as requested at the close of each semester.
College Property: Care for the equipment and property under assigned jurisdiction and report to the appropriate supervisor when equipment or facilities need attention.
Absence Notification: Notify the appropriate supervisor promptly in case regularly assigned duties cannot be performed.
General Duties: Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
