Overview:
We are seeking a Multi-Function Information Systems Engineer who will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of complex systems that include both software and hardware/infrastructure components. You will interface across multiple layers-from user-facing applications, system infrastructure and networking. You will apply systems engineering principles throughout the lifecycle (requirements, architecture, integration, verification & validation, sustainment). This position resides in the Support Services & Isolated Environments group in the Research Computing division of the Information Technology Services Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
This team supports the ORNL's goals through robust systems engineering, integration, and support tailored specifically for our NSS research community. We manage a variety of critical infrastructures including mid-range clusters, servers, workstations, and other pivotal services.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Systems Administration:
Manage, configure, and maintain Windows server environments.
Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring uptime and reliability.
Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
STIG checking and systems compliance.
Virtualization & Storage:
Implement and support Citrix virtualized environments.
Manage storage solutions relevant to Windows environments, ensuring data integrity and availability.
Security & Compliance:
Implement and maintain security best practices.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.
Customer Service & Support:
Provide advanced support and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve technical issues and provide recommendations for system improvements.
Deliver high-quality customer service, both internally and externally.
Project Management & Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
Update and maintain all documentation as required
