    Note:All staff are hired by Milford School District rather than a specific building. Final placement is subject to change based on district staffing needs.

    Position Summary: The Multi-Lingual Learner Teacher provides high-quality, standards-based instruction and support to multilingual learners in both general education and specialized settings. The Teacher collaborates with teachers, families, and school staff to support students' English language development and academic achievement. This position uses data-informed instructional practices, provides targeted small-group and individualized instruction, supports inclusive classroom environments, and advocates for the academic, social, and linguistic needs of English learner students and families.

    Qualifications:

    • Hold or be eligible for a valid Delaware Bilingual Teacher Standard Certificate in accordance with 14 Del. C. §1561and certification in at least ONE content area.
    • Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish and/or Haitian Creole preferred.

    Performance Responsibilities: This list is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or ability associated with this role but is intended to accurately reflect the principal job elements.

    • Deliver high-quality English language development instruction through push-in, pull-out, small-group, and individualized instructional models to identified and, as appropriate, non-identified students.
    • Administer required language proficiency and academic assessments to support student placement, instructional planning, and ongoing monitoring of student progress.
    • Analyze student data and use assessment results to identify needs, adjust instruction, and monitor progress toward language and academic goals.
    • Develop, adapt, and modify curriculum, instructional materials, and learning activities to support English language acquisition and academic success.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers and other school personnel to provide appropriate accommodations, instructional strategies, and supports for English learner students.
    • Serve as a co-teacher in general education classrooms, when appropriate, using a variety of instructional strategies to address students' diverse abilities, learning needs, interests, and levels of English proficiency.
    • Provide instruction through whole-group, small-group, and individualized learning experiences based on student needs.
    • Establish and maintain a classroom environment that promotes learning, engagement, respect, and academic achievement.
    • Support students in developing positive classroom behaviors, academic skills, independence, and confidence as learners.
    • Participate in professional learning communities and collaborative teams to review student data, refine instructional practices, develop curriculum, and share effective strategies for supporting English learner students.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential student records, assessment data, service documentation, and progress-monitoring information in accordance with applicable laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
    • Communicate regularly and effectively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel regarding students' academic, language, behavioral, and social progress.
    • Serve as an advocate and resource for English learner students and families by helping connect them with appropriate school and community resources.
    • Participate in school and community activities that promote family engagement, cultural awareness, and support for English learner students and their families.
    • Support and enforce school rules, Board policies, administrative regulations, and established procedures.
    • Maintain professional knowledge and skills through ongoing professional learning, including reading, reflection, workshops, seminars, professional learning communities, and advanced coursework.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator.

    Terms of Employment: Ten-month (10) full-time employee.

    Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually according to the Board's policy on professional personnel evaluation.
