The following are the duties and responsibilities to adequately perform this job.
- Sufficient knowledge of principles, methods and practices, procedures and terminology to perform the routine tasks of a Radiologic Technologist with minimal additional training.
- Sufficient skill in using stationary and mobile radiologic equipment and software.
- Must be knowledgeable of and use Universal Precautions.
- Sufficient ability to advise others on technical questions involving Radiologic procedures.
- Demonstrates responsibility for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
- Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations.
- Assists in maintaining basic records, reports, scheduling, filing and phone communication.
- Programs portable or stationary techniques for various examinations, settings and equipment.
- Prepares and administers contrast media as required by procedure.
- Monitors patients for adverse reactions.
- Takes call according to schedule after regular department hours, when department is closed.
- Works holidays and weekends as required and various shifts to include third shift as needed.
- Interacts professionally with patients and family.
- Assures patients rights to privacy.
