    Eligibility: Open to current Hoquiam School District certificated staff. This stipend is in addition to the employee's regular contract.

    Position Summary

    The Multilingual Education Program (MEP) Coordinator provides program-level leadership and compliance oversight for the district's Multilingual Education Program. The Coordinator ensures the program meets federal and state requirements, coordinates student identification and reporting, serves as the district's Language Access Coordinator, and strengthens partnerships with multilingual families and community organizations. This is a 10-day stipend position; days/hours are scheduled in consultation with the Director of Student Support Services and may include days/hours before and after the school year. All days/hours are outside of the regular contracted time.

    Meaningful Relationships

    • Act as a liaison between schools, multilingual families, and community organizations.
    • Maintain clear, respectful, and timely communication with families, ensuring language access and responsiveness.
    • Provide program guidance to the MEP Teacher, ML Paraeducators, and school staff regarding MEP requirements.
    • Demonstrate empathy, discretion, and cultural humility in all student and family interactions.

    Engaged Learners

    • Identify eligible multilingual students and ensure accurate documentation, enrollment, and exit within the Multilingual Education Program.
    • Coordinate district WIDA screening and annual assessment procedures and timelines.
    • Coordinate supplemental educational services, such as after-school programs, summer programs, and tutoring aligned with identified student needs.

    Adaptive Pathways

    • Monitor program data and student progress; recommend adjustments to services to reduce learning gaps.
    • Coordinate the integration of MEP services with MTSS, Special Education, and other school-wide systems of support.
    • Support the development of individualized plans for multilingual students, including credit accrual and graduation planning.

    Community Connections

    • Serve as the Language Access Coordinator for the district.
    • Maintain compliance with state and federal MEP requirements, including Title III and OSPI guidelines, and complete required reporting.
    • Support the Director of Student Support Services with yearly grant compliance reporting.
    • Organize and participate in family engagement events to increase parent involvement and advocacy.
    • Coordinate with community partners, health agencies, and service providers to meet the social-emotional, health, and academic needs of multilingual students.
    • Serve as a resource to building leadership by providing reports and status updates to inform decision-making.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
    • Experience working with migrant, multilingual, or underserved student populations preferred.
    • Experience coaching or leading adult professional learning preferred.

    Certificates/Licenses/Endorsements

    • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
    • English Language Learner Endorsement or proof of enrollment in a Washington State approved ELL Program.
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Deep understanding of the strengths and unique challenges of multilingual students and families.
    • Training or experience in sheltered instruction methods such as SIOP or GLAD.
    • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support as applied to multilingual learners.
    • Familiarity with state and federal MEP guidelines, Title III, and OSPI reporting requirements.
    • Strong facilitation, consultation, and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust with educators across disciplines.
    • Data-informed decision-making and instructional planning.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills across diverse audiences.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet timelines.
    • Technological proficiency with learning, student management, and state reporting systems (e.g., Skyward, Canvas).
    • Ability to travel between school sites and conduct home visits as needed.

    Salary: Stipend - 10 Additional Days

    Benefits: State allocation towards dental, vision, medical insurance, retirement, 12 sick leave days, 3 personal leave days.

    Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
