Job Description

Swedish Medical Group is seeking a Physiatrist to join the Swedish Multiple Sclerosis Center, part of the renowned Swedish Neuroscience Institute, providing dedicated rehabilitation medicine care to a large and diverse population of patients.

This position offers a distinctive opportunity to build a focused practice within a comprehensive, multidisciplinary MS Center, working alongside neurologists, nursing staff, and physical and occupational therapy. The role centers on outpatient neurorehabilitation and spasticity management for patients across the full spectrum of disease severity - from ambulatory patients with focal spasticity to those with advanced mobility impairment - including botulinum toxin injection procedures with EMG guidance. While the majority of the caseload will be MS patients, the physiatrist will also provide similar services to a smaller population of patients with ALS. The ideal candidate is passionate about neuroimmunologic and neurodegenerative rehabilitation, comfortable managing a high-volume, complex caseload centered on MS, and motivated to help build a sustainable, patient-centered practice within a collaborative center model.

Position Details:

  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) outpatient-focused position within the Swedish MS Center, with 10% protected time for research-related activities
  • Close, ongoing collaboration with the MS Center''s neurology, nursing, PT/OT, and infusion teams
  • Primary clinical focus on MS patients, with a smaller portion of the caseload dedicated to ALS and movement disorders patients requiring similar rehabilitation services
  • Participation in provider meetings and cross-departmental care coordination
  • Opportunities for patient education and community-facing engagement consistent with the MS Center''s mission
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation is between $309,842 and $362,820 per year

The compensation amounts listed may include productivity or quality/service incentives, call pay, extra shift incentives, as applicable to the position. In addition, providers may have CME benefits available to them.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • MD or DO with completed, ACGME-accredited residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
  • Board certification (or board eligibility with certification expected within a defined window) in PM&R
  • Fellowship training or substantial clinical experience in neurorehabilitation, ideally with a specific MS or neuroimmunologic disease focus
  • Demonstrated competency in chemodenervation/botulinum toxin injections for spasticity management
  • Experience with intrathecal baclofen pump management
  • Familiarity with complex bracing, orthotics, and assistive technology needs specific to progressive neurological disease
  • Comfort managing patients across the full MS disability spectrum
  • Interest or prior involvement in clinical research, particularly MS rehabilitation outcomes research

About Company

Our Mission is more than just words.

About Us

As the third largest not-for-profit health system in the United States, we are committed to providing for the needs of our communities – especially for those who are poor and vulnerable – across Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

Our system includes more than 82,000 caregivers (all employees) serving in a diverse range of ministries from birth to end of life, including acute care, physician clinics, long-term and assisted living, palliative and hospice care, home health, supportive housing and education.

Where we serve

We operate 34 hospitals, 600 physician clinics, 22 long-term care facilities, 19 hospice and home health programs and 693 supportive housing units in 14 locations. Our health plan serves our caregivers and other large employer groups covering 513,000 members.

On any given day, we care for more than 1,200 people in our long-term care settings, more than 4,000 in our hospitals and more than 15,000 in our clinic settings. Daily, we serve more than 7,000 people in our many home health and palliative care programs and almost 800 in supportive housing. We touch more than five times as many lives in non-acute settings as we do in the traditional hospital setting.

A tradition of caring for everyone

When the Sisters arrived in the Pacific Northwest in 1856, they came to answer a call for help from a new pioneer community. What they found were many communities in need of service, and so with dedication to the Mission and collaboration with like-minded partners, their ministry grew to what is now a five-state health system.

Providence Health & Services continues a tradition of caring that the Sisters of Providence began more than 158 years ago. The cornerstone of our Mission is to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

We believe making a difference is one of our greatest rewards.

Caring is what we do.

Our benefits help us care for our employees and their families by supporting their wellness and providing tools that promote financial security and professional growth.*
