Night Shift

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an experienced Multispecialty Sonographer / Ultrasound Technologist to join our diagnostic imaging team at BSW Round Rock Medical Center.

This full-time night shift Sonographer position works Monday through Friday from 10:30 PM-7:00 AM and is ideal for an ultrasound professional with experience across multiple sonography specialties.

Job Summary

The Multispecialty Sonographer performs basic through advanced diagnostic ultrasound examinations across multiple sonography specialties. Procedures may include abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, cardiac, musculoskeletal and small-parts ultrasound.

The Sonographer reviews each patient''s clinical history to determine the purpose of the examination, identifies the clinical questions that need to be addressed and expands the ultrasound examination when appropriate to obtain comprehensive diagnostic information.

Essential Functions

• Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound and specialty sonography examinations utilizing appropriate equipment, imaging techniques and established clinical protocols.
• Perform required measurements and obtain diagnostic-quality images to support accurate physician interpretation.
• Identify and define abnormalities specific to the ultrasound procedure and appropriately expand the examination when clinical findings require additional imaging.
• Correlate anatomy, physiology and findings from other diagnostic tests when performing ultrasound examinations.
• Prepare patients for procedures and obtain relevant clinical history, physical findings and laboratory information.
• Explain ultrasound examinations clearly to patients, answer questions and help provide a comfortable patient experience.
• Tailor imaging techniques to the patient''s clinical presentation to obtain comprehensive examinations and reduce the potential for diagnostic error.
• Assist physicians in procedure and operating rooms by providing ultrasound guidance and imaging when required.
• Follow established workflows and policies for PACS, EMR, image exchange systems, modality worklists and medical imaging records.
• Perform routine quality checks and daily maintenance of ultrasound equipment and report equipment malfunctions appropriately.
• Follow proper infection prevention, patient safety and confidentiality standards.
• Serve as a clinical resource for Sonographers, physicians, students and other healthcare professionals regarding ultrasound equipment, techniques and procedures.
• Collaborate with the ultrasound team to maintain quality standards, follow imaging protocols and support accreditation activities.
• Assist with implementing new ultrasound technology, procedures and protocols while maintaining system standards.
• Serve as a trainer or preceptor for new team members and assist with education related to new services and initiatives.

• Strong knowledge of diagnostic medical sonography, anatomy, physiology and advanced ultrasound techniques.
• Familiarity with approved clinical protocols for the ultrasound examinations performed.
• Ability to perform examinations across multiple ultrasound specialties.
• Ability to recognize abnormal findings and appropriately modify or extend an ultrasound examination when necessary.
• Strong critical-thinking and independent decision-making skills.
• Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, Sonographers and other members of the healthcare team.
• Knowledge of infection prevention, patient privacy and confidentiality requirements.
• Proficiency with ultrasound equipment, PACS, EMR and related medical imaging technology.
• Ability to provide training and support to new team members.
• Ability to take call if required.

Multispecialty Requirements

Candidates must meet qualifications for two ultrasound specialties, which may include:

• OB/GYN Sonography
• Vascular Sonography
• Cardiac Sonography
• Musculoskeletal Sonography
• Small Parts Sonography

• EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program
• EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

• Fetal Echocardiography (FE)/Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSK)/Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)/Reg Dig Card Son-Adult Echo (RDCS-AE)/Ped.Echocardiography (PE) (RDCS-PE)/Reg Diag Medical Sonographer (RDMS)/Reg Diag Med Sono-Abdomen (AB) (RDMS-AB)/Reg Diag Med Sono-Breast (BR) (RDMS-BR)/Reg Diag Med Sono-OB/GYN (OB) (RDMS-OB)/RDMS-Pediatric Sonography (PS) (RDMS-PS)/Registered Vascular Tech (RVT)
• ARDMS in (AB) or (OB) or RVT (ARDMS): Must have 2 years of related Multispecialty Experience and

Must have TWO of the following in separate specialties:

• ARDMS - RDMS: AB, BR, OB/GYN, PS/ARDMS - RDCS: AE, FE, PE/ARDMS - RVT/ARDSM - RMSKS/ARRT - S, VS, BS.
• Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
