Location:

Fullerton, CA. Hybrid position offering remote flexibility while remaining available for client meetings, planning commission meetings, and other public agency responsibilities.

Candidates must be licensed to practice law in California and have 5+ years of experience representing public agencies on transactional and advisory matters. Direct experience advising planning commissions or other public bodies is required. No solo practitioners.

Job Description

  • Advise cities and public agencies on municipal law matters.
  • Serve as legal counsel to planning commissions and public boards.
  • Provide guidance regarding Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act compliance.
  • Draft and negotiate transactional agreements and municipal contracts.
  • Advise clients on land use, zoning, and entitlement matters.
  • Provide legal analysis involving CEQA, NEPA, and environmental compliance.
  • Counsel clients on development agreements and redevelopment matters.
  • Attend planning commission, council, and public agency meetings.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions.
  • Draft ordinances, resolutions, agreements, and policy documents.
  • Collaborate with public officials and agency staff on complex legal issues.
  • Travel as needed to attend client meetings and public hearings.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license.
  • 5+ years of experience representing public agencies.
  • Significant experience handling transactional and municipal advisory matters.
  • Direct experience advising planning commissions or other public bodies.
  • Strong knowledge of the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act.
  • Significant experience in one or more of the following: land use and zoning, CEQA/NEPA, development agreements, redevelopment, water law, election law, First Amendment law, medical marijuana regulation, or fair housing.
  • Excellent legal writing, drafting, and client counseling skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
