The City of Casper is hiring Seasonal Municipal Workers for the season! From April 17 to September 30, you can earn competitive pay while working up to 32-40 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Help keep our community clean and safe by performing a variety of tasks including litter pickup, assisting customers at the Transfer Station, maintaining public spaces, and operating light equipment. Incumbents are responsible for a variety of semi-skilled labor tasks related to an assigned division. Responsibilities may include routine physical labor and/or on-the-job instruction.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives general supervision from higher-level supervisory and management staff in assigned division.
Typical Class Essential Duties
Manual labor tasks such as cultivating and fertilizing flowers, grass, and shrubs; basic building maintenance; shoveling snow, mowing and basic irrigation; clearing and maintaining landfill ditches; storm water maintenance; repairing and maintaining roadways; and working with crews performing basic construction and maintenance repairs.
May operate dump trucks with snow plows, front end loaders, backhoes, boom trucks, forklifts, light sanitation vehicles, tractors, mowers, jackhammers and a variety of other related tools, equipment and vehicles as needed.
Basic inspection, repair and maintenance of equipment.
May assist with installing street signs, barriers, and painting street markings.
May receive cash, count cash and operate a cash register; may complete daily operational reports.
Light cleaning, litter pickup and/or housekeeping activities.
May assist with work on special projects.
Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules and general information about the facility or event.
Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
Follows all City safety procedures. Reports all accidents/incidents immediately to supervisor.

This position may be eligible to naturally progress to a Municipal Worker II. Prior to any natural progression, the Department Head must justify that there is an operational need, and budget accordingly, prior to an incumbent obtaining the necessary requirements, or regularly performing work at the higher level.

Driving records are required for all new employees regardless of the positions driving requirements. Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Can include long periods of sitting or long periods of standing.
Medium work: Exerting up to 90 pounds of force using jackhammers occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Incumbents frequently drive, operate equipment, or work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. Frequent work on or around moving motorized equipment is also expected. Employees in this class are often subjected to unsanitary environments, liquid and solid waste, fumes/dusts, odors, chemicals, and excessive noise. May be subject to repetitive motion and vibration when operating tools and machinery. Work requires the use of personal protective equipment including hard hats, eye protection, hearing protectors, gloves, safety vests, and safety shoes. OSHA mandated preventative vaccinations and periodic examinations for work exposures are provided.
