Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Germanna Community College invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty member in Music.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in Music. Instruction will occur online and in a classroom environment. The successful candidate will be able to successfully instruct and assist students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

  • This position is available in person or online.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • M.F.A. or M.A. in music from an accredited university or college and have at least graduate 18 credits in their teaching field
  • Understanding of general music theory and history
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to use instructional technology

Additional Considerations

  • Teaching online experience, Regular Substantive Interaction training, CANVAS lms skills
  • Prior experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment
  • Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
  • Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
