In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.
Video Editing & Post-Production
Assist with editing video content for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other digital platforms.
Edit both long-form and short-form content, including interviews, educational videos, event highlights, social media clips, and promotional content.
Develop proficiency with professional editing software such as DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro, with additional use of tools such as CapCut when appropriate.
Organize footage, audio, graphics, project files, and other digital assets.
Assist with basic audio editing, color correction, captions, titles, graphics, transitions, and other post-production elements.
Adapt and repurpose longer videos into short-form content optimized for social platforms.
Help prepare final video files for publication across different platforms and formats.
Incorporate feedback and revisions from department leadership and collaborators.
Content Creation & Production
Assist with developing original video and social media content that showcases the Music Business/Management Department, its faculty, students, alumni, programs, and industry connections.
Help record interviews, guest speakers, events, classroom activities, and other department programming.
Assist with basic camera, lighting, audio, and production setup as needed.
Identify compelling moments from events, interviews, and longer recordings that can be developed into standalone digital content.
Contribute ideas for new video series, social content, recurring features, and other approaches to expanding the department’s digital presence.
Help translate department activities and expertise into engaging content for audiences beyond the Berklee campus.
YouTube & Social Media Content
Support the development and growth of the department’s YouTube and social media presence.
Assist with preparing titles, descriptions, captions, thumbnails, and other supporting content for video publication.
Help adapt content for the different formats and audiences of YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms.
Collaborate on a content calendar and help maintain a consistent publishing workflow.
Assist with organizing and maintaining the department’s library of completed and in-progress video content.
Monitor emerging content formats, platform features, and video trends that may be relevant to the department’s digital strategy.
Training & Skill Development
Participate in paid training and guided skill development in video editing, post-production, and digital content creation.
Develop proficiency in DaVinci Resolve and/or Adobe Premiere Pro, along with other relevant content creation tools.
Complete practice projects and progressively more advanced editing assignments as skills develop.
Apply feedback from supervisors and other experienced creators to continuously improve editing and production skills.
Stay curious about evolving video production techniques, workflows, technologies, and digital platforms.
Gradually take greater ownership of video projects as technical proficiency and experience increase.
Project & Department Support
Collaborate with the Department Chairs, Project Manager, faculty, staff, and other student employees on content-related projects.
Help coordinate recordings, organize production materials, and track content projects from recording through publication.
Maintain organized digital files, project folders, footage archives, and other production assets.
Support department events and initiatives when video or content creation assistance is needed.
Contribute to special content projects and emerging department priorities as assigned.
Current Berklee student in good academic standing and eligible for student employment.
Strong interest in video editing, content creation, digital media, storytelling, or social media.
Some experience creating or editing video content, whether through coursework, personal projects, social media, student organizations, artist projects, or other creative work.
Strong creative instincts and an interest in learning how to tell engaging stories through video.
Willingness and enthusiasm to learn professional video editing and production techniques.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Dependable, responsible, and able to meet deadlines.
Ability to receive feedback, make revisions, and continuously improve creative work.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with department leadership, faculty, staff, and other student employees.
Familiarity with major social media and digital video platforms.
Experience with DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, or another video editing platform.
Examples of previous video, social media, film, YouTube, or other digital content projects.
Experience creating short-form vertical video for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts.
Familiarity with cameras, lighting, microphones, or other basic video production equipment.
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, After Effects, or other design and content creation tools.
Basic knowledge of audio editing, color correction, motion graphics, photography, or graphic design.
Interest in music business, marketing, media, technology, entertainment, or the music industry.
Previous professional-level video editing experience is not required. Applicants who demonstrate creativity, initiative, a strong interest in content creation, and a commitment to developing their skills are encouraged to apply.
Approximately 12–16 hours per week during the academic semester, based on departmental needs and student availability.
Work will include a combination of training, content development, production, editing, and project support.
Some evening or event support may occasionally be required when recording department programs or events.
Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours is expected.
Student employees are expected to represent the Music Business/Management Department professionally in their work and communications.
A central goal of this position is to provide the selected student with meaningful, hands-on professional development in video editing and digital content production.
The student will have the opportunity to receive paid training and guided experience using professional video editing tools while building a portfolio of real-world content. Over time, the student will progress from supported training and introductory editing assignments toward independently editing and producing content for the department’s digital platforms.
Video editing and content production are increasingly valuable skills across the music, entertainment, marketing, media, and creative industries. This position provides an opportunity to develop those skills through practical experience while contributing to the growth of the Music Business/Management Department’s online presence and global reach.
