The Unified School District of Antigo (USDA) is looking for a creative, collaborative, and dedicated Music/Choir Teacher to join our team at the Antigo High School. Located in the heart of Wisconsin's Northwoods, our district offers a unique blend of quiet, scenic living with easy access to the cultural hubs of Wausau and the outdoor adventures of the Wolf River.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Instruction & Performance: Plan and deliver engaging choral and music instruction aligned with curriculum standards, fostering vocal technique, musical literacy, and artistic expression. Direct high school choral ensembles for school concerts, festivals, and community events.

  • Collaboration: Participate within the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) framework with colleagues and special education staff to support student learning and coordinate instructional strategies across the Fine Arts department.

  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students and families. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress, performance schedules, and department activities.

  • Data-Driven Progress: Assess and monitor student musical and behavioral progress through ongoing evaluation. Use assessment results to inform instructional decisions, provide feedback, and adjust rehearsal strategies to support student growth in music.

  • Student Support: Support and monitor student progress toward IEP goals as applicable, adapting musical instruction and classroom practices to meet diverse learning needs and ensure every student finds their voice.

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.

  • Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license (or eligibility) in Choral/General Music.

  • Strong classroom management, conducting, and piano accompaniment skills is preferred.

  • Knowledge of vocal pedagogy, music theory, and student development best practices.
