About This Opportunity

This position is responsible for:

Facilitating the development and direction of musicinstruction within the Corp's music ministry; maximizing the potential of music education programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Implementation Responsibilities (40%)
  • Develops and designs individual and group instruction program, implements music programs; provides feedback to supervisor related to program implementation and success, and recommends future program development.
  • Facilitates the Music Curriculum (instrument lessons, youth ensembles, and musicals); programs and related responsibilities.
  • Lesson Planning and Teaching Responsibilities (40%)
  • Develops and designs individual and group instruction programs as a part of the Corps' music ministry.
  • Reviews and ensures procedures are in place to enable all classes to perform in an accurate, complete and timely manner; ensures compliance with established deadlines; oversees students and musical instruments; teaches and monitors students; ensures the progress of their work.
  • Child Care Responsibilities (10%)
  • Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure and healthy manner.
  • Assists with the disbursing of snacks for the students and aids with cleanup afterward.
  • Administrative Responsibilities (10%)
  • Maintains and ensures all records pertaining to the music programs including monthly statistics.
  • Enters personnel data for all students who enter the program and updates status as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
  • Ability to demonstrate performing arts techniques.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives and monitor their effective implementation.
  • Ability to form positive relationships with youth.
  • Ability to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Duties are usually performed seated but may require frequent periods of standing and walking.
  • Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Working Conditions:

Work is usually performed in a normal classroom environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

What We Are Looking For In You

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required, with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Music Arts, Music Education, or related field preferred,

And

  • Two years of experience teaching private or group lessons in appropriate performing arts discipline,

Or

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

  • Valid State Drivers License
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
