Liberty Grove Schools is a growing, community-centered public charter school located in Indianapolis, Indiana. About the Role

Liberty Grove Schools is seeking an electives teacher to provide music and/or theater instruction that will guide and encourage students to develop their enjoyment of music and/or theater, along with social skills. Join our LGS team as we continue to grow!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of the school's curriculum and the Indiana Academic Standards
• Lesson Plan Internalization: Plan, develop and implement music and/or theater curriculum to meet learning goals; incorporate music and movement in class
• Prepare and arrange music and/or theater equipment in the classroom for students to use
• Prepare students for school performances and planned music or theater experiences
• Teach students musical and/or theater concepts; may lead choir and band activities
• Guide students to grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music and/or theater through a variety of planned music / theater experiences which include singing, acting, moving to music, playing instruments, and listening
• Differentiate the music and/or theater curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student and the student body
• Evaluate each student's musical and/or theatrical growth and contribution to the performance of the group that allows everyone to contribute
• Discuss various musical and/or theatrical approaches and traditions; encourage students to express themselves through music and the performing arts
• Collaboration: Support the school administration in developing music and/or theater programs, attend faculty meetings, and participate in parent-teacher conferences
• Project-Based Learning Activities: Organize music and/or theater exhibitions to display the performances of students and help them develop their abilities
• Perform additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree required, Graduate Degree preferred
• Demonstrated competency and background knowledge in Music and/or Theater
• Strong instrumental, vocal, and/or theatrical skills
• Ability to work with students at all skill levels to foster their growth and enjoyment of the performing arts
