Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Music Teacher to serve students in grades 4K-8. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, inclusive music program that builds foundational skills, fosters creativity, and cultivates a love of music in all students. This teacher will play a key role in strengthening school culture through performances, community engagement, and integration of the arts across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality music instruction aligned to state standards for students in grades 4K-8
- Develop students' skills in rhythm, melody, vocal performance, and instrumental exploration
- Create a classroom environment that is structured, engaging, and joyful
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs and multilingual learners
- Organize and lead school performances, showcases, and community events
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to integrate music into broader learning experiences
- Establish clear routines, expectations, and strong classroom management
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Use data and observation to inform instruction and support student growth
Qualifications
- Valid Wisconsin teaching license (or eligibility) in Music Education
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and high expectations for all students
- Ability to plan engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons across a wide age range (4K-8)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading student performances or school-wide events
- Experience integrating music with other content areas
- Background working in diverse, urban school settings
