CERTIFICATION: 1515 (General Music), 1511 (Choral Music), 1506 (Instrumental Music)

CONTRACT PERCENT: 100% - One Year Limited Term

START DATE: August 24, 2026 (new teacher orientation is August 17-20, 2026)

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Watertown Unified School district is seeking a highly qualified elementary music teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to join their outstanding team of music educators. The ideal candidate will…

• Instill a passion and appreciation for music in our youngest musicians
• Implement and plan engaging, relevant lessons aligned with the WI Music Standards using innovative techniques and resources
• Possess strong classroom management skills and an ability to develop relationships with students, colleagues and families
• Collaborate with colleagues in a PLC framework; including district-wide elementary music performances (elementary chorus - for example)
• Demonstrate experience and interest in choral music, including show choir (Opportunities for involvement in WUSD Show Choir program - elementary through high school)
• Possess the ability to plan and coordinate school-wide music performances
• Have background knowledge and/or experience with trauma-informed strategies, PBIS, and culturally responsive practices
• Utilize technology to collaborate with colleagues and engage learners
• Demonstrate an understanding of student development and utilize age-appropriate strategies to engage young musicians

THE DISTRICT: Selected candidate will help to further the WUSD mission to serve our students by providing educational opportunities to promote academic excellence and a lifelong love of learning and to lead families, students and staff in realizing the WUSD vision of inspired learners through student-centered education strengthened by community involvement.

The Watertown School District has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students taught in seven buildings. Douglas Elementary School is a recently renovated Early Childhood - 5th Grade building with an enrollment of 412 students. Lebanon Elementary School - LEAP is a rural 2-5 school with an enrollment of 30 students, served by 2 teachers.

THE COMMUNITY: The Watertown community has 24,000 residents and is located on the Rock River approximately halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, at the junction of Highways 16, 19, and 26.
