Excellence Community Schools ECS is a Charter Management Organization CMO supporting schools in the Bronx, NY, and Stamford, CT. Our programs are based on a proven, nationally recognized model, which originated in our flagship school, the Bronx Charter School for Excellence, a National Blue Ribbon School.

Position Overview
Excellence Community Schools is seeking a passionate, patient, quick-thinking, and innovative Music Teacher. This position currently includes responsibility for classroom music for Elementary or Middle School. Experience in a classroom music setting, engaging all children, is desired.
Responsibilities
• Provides instruction in music in a variety of settings and uses effective instructional techniques tailored to individual students goals and objectives. • Provides instruction and support in the area of music education. • Implements curricula and activities to meet academic standards. • Designs and implements assessments that measure progress towards academic standards. • Uses assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices. • Participates in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions. • Provides consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior. • Is accountable for students mastery of academic standards. • Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelors Degree required. • Masters Degree preferred. • New York State Teaching Certification in Education (Music) Grades 1-6 or Middle School preferred. • A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in music education, working with children, and providing music instruction in an urban school setting is required. • Passionate about teaching music and enforcing the learning of music concepts required. • Have educational and/or professional training in developing and implementing a music education program for children.
Compensation & Benefits
