Old Mission Peninsula School located in Traverse City is hiring a full time Music Teacher. Musts have a Michigan teacher certification with endorsement.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join our team. The Music Teacher will inspire and educate students in music theory, performance, and appreciation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in music education, be enthusiastic about working with students of varying skill levels, and demonstrate innovative teaching methods that engage and motivate learners.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the music curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Teach a variety of music subjects, including vocal performance and/or instrumental music, music theory, and music history.
- Prepare students for performances and competitions, including school concerts, recitals, and festivals.
- Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, performances, and presentations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
- Regular and predictable attendance
Cognitive Demands:
- Supervision of multiple students at once

Physical Demands:
- Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
- Stand and walk frequently
- Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
- Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
- Withstand a moderate noise level
- Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
- Assist/lift students, as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
- Proficient in various musical instruments and/or vocal techniques.
- Strong understanding of music theory and composition.
