    Job Description

    Job Summary
    Shriners Hospitals for Children is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Music Therapist to provide therapeutic music interventions to pediatric patients, promoting their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being within a hospital setting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Organizes, and directs music therapy experiences as part of health care and treatment of patients in order to achieve goals pertaining to the restoration, maintenance, and improvement of health and increased comprehension of self, environment, and physical ability.

    • Collaborates with other members of rehabilitation team in planning music experiences in accordance with patients' physical or psychological needs, capabilities, and interests.

    • Develops treatment plan, using individualized needs assessment. Individualizes music experiences for each patient to meet patients' physical or psychological needs.

    • Music therapy methods can include, receptive, improvisational, compositional, and / or performance / community based techniques.

    • Evaluates patients' reactions to various experiences and prepares reports describing symptoms indicative of progress of treatment.

    • Submits periodic reports to treatment team or physician to provide clinical data for evaluation.

    • Oversees clinical training of music therapy students.

    • Develops, implements, and presents research related to clinical practice


    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy

    • Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • One year’s experience

    Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
