Position: Music Therapist

Location: Preceptor North

Wage: $28-$32

Status: Part Time

• JOB SUMMARY

The Music Therapist provides music therapy that is designed to meet the patient’s psychological and/or physical needs.

• DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs patient assessments to evaluate appropriateness for a music therapy program and contributes to the plan of treatment.

• Reports changes in the patient’s conditions and needs to the Registered Nurse Case Manager or Director of Social Services.

• Observes for safety hazards in the patient’s and organization’s environments and takes appropriate steps to reduce or eliminate them.

• Designs and implements a variety of music therapy and plans to meet the individual needs of each patient.

• Collaborates with members of the Hospice Team in planning sessions.

• Provides therapeutic interventions.

• Provides education to the staff and community on the music therapy program.

• Maintains continuing education through academic studies, seminars, and workshops.

• Attends and participates in in services, staff meetings, and case conferences as required.

• Completes all documentation in an accurate and legible manner.

• Complies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and standards of practice.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Graduate of an accredited music therapy program.          

• Current certification from an accredited music therapy program.

• The ability to drive and/or have access to transportation for agency related travel (e.g. community partners, patients, etc.) is an essential function of the job.  Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage, and have access to an automobile.

• One year experience working in a health-related setting preferred.
