Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced MySQL DBA Consultant to support enterprise database environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in MySQL production support, replication, high availability, cloud database services, and DevOps automation. This role requires maintaining highly available database environments while ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain, and support MySQL database environments in production and development.
  • Design, build, and maintain highly available database architectures.
  • Configure and support MySQL replication and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies using Percona XtraBackup, snapshots, and other recovery tools.
  • Perform database patching, upgrades, and migration activities.
  • Support cloud database platforms including Azure and AWS managed database services.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Terragrunt, and GitHub Actions.
  • Implement automation solutions using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Monitor database health using enterprise monitoring platforms such as Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or Splunk.
  • Ensure database security, availability, stability, and compliance with best practices.
  • Provide production support and participate in on-call rotation for critical database issues.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and infrastructure teams to support enterprise database initiatives.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience as a MySQL Database Administrator.
  • Strong experience with MySQL production replication and database administration.
  • Experience with MySQL High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with MySQL backup and recovery using Percona XtraBackup and snapshots.
  • Strong experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Experience with cloud-managed database services, particularly Azure and AWS RDS.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with database monitoring and observability tools including Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or Splunk.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB/CosmosDB, or Microsoft SQL Server is a plus.
  • Experience with automation using Bash, Python, or Ansible is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
