Position Summary
Saxon Aerospace is seeking an experienced NC Milling Operator to support a leading aerospace manufacturing program in Bohemia, NY. This position is responsible for setting up and operating NC milling machines to manufacture high-precision aerospace components. The ideal candidate will have experience machining hard metals, operating gantry milling machines, and working with Siemens 840D and/or Fanuc controls in a precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate NC milling machines, including:
Cincinnati Milacron
Okuma (2-Pallet)
Makino
Mitsui Seiki
Machine hard metal aerospace components while maintaining close tolerances and quality standards.
Operate two machines simultaneously when cycle times permit.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and NC instructions.
Perform tooling changes, machine offsets, and program adjustments using Siemens 840D and Fanuc controls.
Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Perform functional testing to ensure compliance with engineering and quality requirements.
Accurately record production data and labor transactions.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to all quality and safety standards.
Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and manufacturing goals.
Apply basic shop mathematics for machining calculations and measurements.
Stand for extended periods and safely lift tools and materials required for machine setup and operation.
Required Qualifications
Experience setting up and operating NC/CNC milling machines.
Required experience machining hard metals.
Required experience operating gantry milling machines.
Experience with Siemens 840D and/or Fanuc controls.
Experience operating one or more of the following machines:
Cincinnati Milacron
Okuma (2-Pallet)
Makino
Mitsui Seiki
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
Basic computer skills.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
Technical school diploma or machining certification preferred.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
