    Description

    Job Focus: Supports the College Mission and serves students, employers, and the college community by preparing and providing relevant technical instruction. Under general supervision, prepares relevant curriculum for competencybased instruction in an open-entry/open-exit or lecture environment for a relevant industry. Maintains a positive and productive learning environment by working collaboratively with students, staff, and college partners.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

    1. Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing

    2. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

    3. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

    4. Must have open, positive communication skills with the ability to foster a productive learning environment. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, supervisors, partners, and the public.

    5. Must have demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and instill industry-related concepts and skills, critical thinking skills, computer skills, and ability to foster productive learning environment

    6. Must be capable of performing routine physical activities associated with the training program, including the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds, and demonstrate proper physical requirements associated with performing job functions

    7. Must be knowledgeable in course content, as evidenced by education and experience, and effective in directing and evaluating student learning in didactic and laboratory performance

    8. Ability to provide excellent customer service

    9. Demonstrated ability to use technology

    Responsibilities and Tasks:

    1. Encourage growth through industry connectivity

    2. Prepare relevant curriculum for competency-based instruction

    3. Develop and maintain current program and course outlines, goals, and objectives

    4. Align class curriculum with industry standards

    5. Administer Utah State Board of Education skills tests when teaching secondary students

    6. Actively assist in accreditation processes

    7. Advise, evaluate, and record student processes

    8. Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in respective industry

    9. Maintain certifications, licensures and accreditation standards for program area

    10. Assist with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts

    11. Create, support, and maintain an active Occupational Advisory Committee and industry partnerships

    12. Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area

    13. Foster a productive learning environment

    14. Encourage and exemplify professionalism and good work habits

    15. Request and maintain supplies and equipment inventories

    16. Propose required budget and purchase requests; follow purchasing guidelines

    17. Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports

    18. Maintain the inventory, equipment and daily operations of the UBTech Salon

    19. Performs other related duties as assigned

    This is a full-time/exempt, benefited position.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent

    2. A valid Utah Nail Technician Instructor's License

    3. Two (2) years of demonstrated relevant industry experience

    4. Proficient in computer applications

    5. Demonstrate ability to maintain excellent customer relationships

    6. Demonstrate ability to follow various processes and procedures

    7. Must successfully pass criminal background check

    8. Valid driver's license

    Work Location: Vernal Campus

    Work Schedule:

    Day Instructor - Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm

    Evening Instructor - Monday-Friday 1:00pm-9:00pm
