Duties
Neighborhood Assistance Coordinator work examples: Serves one or more neighborhoods from a single or a series of satellite Neighborhood Assistance Team sites. Receives complaints, inquiries and requests for assistance from neighborhood residents and merchants. Organizes and conducts or helps neighborhood residents, public officials and servants, and others. Identifies neighborhood problems and either refers them to others for resolution or attempts to solve the problems himself or herself; performs follow-up on referrals to determine whether or not corrective actions have been taken. Conducts surveys of neighborhood opinions, conditions, and other factors. May develop programs and projects designed to bring about improved neighborhood conditions, resident involvement and better relations with governmental bodies. Disseminates information on governmental programs and other projects and activities. May produce or help produce cable television shows and other media events. Prepares reports and other documents as requested. Performs related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
1). Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks.
2). Graduation from an accredited college with a degree in sociology, social work or a related field or an equivalent combination of satisfactory completed college credit hours and work experience (with one year of related work experience equating to one year of college).
3). Ability to develop, implement, and/or evaluate and monitor approved projects, programs and activities.
4). Adequate communication skills, both oral and written, with special emphasis on ability to understandably communicate with all types and strata of people.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary position; requires extensive typing and use of computer, printer and other office equipment.
Frequently required to sit, talk or hear. Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and the ability to sustain prolonged visual concentration.
Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and or provide simple but continuous adjustment on equipment, machinery other office machines, and or materials used in performing essential functions.
Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing slightly skilled movements such as typing and to operate various pieces of office equipment.
Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities and differences between characteristics of colors, shapes and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.
The employee must exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, occasionally involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, crouching, crawling, kneeling, stooping and or moving up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet.
Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors such as repetitive computer keyboard use, irate individuals and intimidation may cause discomfort and poses limited risk of injury.
The employee is occasionally but not regularly subject to adverse environmental conditions including but not limited to, dust, chemicals, smoke, extreme temperatures, small spaces, heights, noise, hazards and atmospheric conditions.
