National Board Certification for Teachers Mentors

Mentor Responsibilities:

• Recruit and inform candidates of process and how to acquire resources

• Recruit annually

• Meeting June

• Organize and lead 4 cohort meetings per semester â2-hour sessions (in person and on TEAMS in winter)

• September-December

• January-April

• Conduct at least one read of each component (2-4) with guiding, constructive feedback aligned to National Board writing expectations

• Provide study resources for component 1 test

• Ensure timely communication with candidates through email/text

• Provide agendas, timelines, handouts, resources for candidates (emailed and in TEAMS group)

• Cannot tell mentee they are correct, grade them, or give mentee a score

• Cannot make any decision for the mentee

• Ensure and maintain confidentiality

• Inform MCBOE of any candidate that is not actively participating in meetings/component process

• Deadline to read all commentaries April 30th of certification year.

Compensation: $300 per semester per active candidate
