Job Description

The opportunity

Are you an executor?

Can you walk into a room full of people you do not know and, within minutes, build rapport and represent a company with confidence? Can you meet with a national customer, understand what they need, capture the right information and move the opportunity forward without letting deadlines or details slip?

National Facility Contractors (NFC) is seeking an outgoing, energetic, polished and highly accountable sales representative to help convert active commercial and national-account opportunities into awarded work across the United States. Personality and presence matter in this role. Customers should feel confident that NFC understands the work and will execute.

This is not primarily a cold-calling or lead-generation position. We generate significant opportunities through our existing relationships, RFPs, national accounts, referrals and business-development efforts. What we need is someone who can take those opportunities and EXECUTE.

What you will sell

NFC is an integrated facilities company providing facility maintenance, management and construction-related services across national portfolios. Work may include snow and ice management, asphalt, concrete, sealcoating, striping, landscaping, exterior facility services, capital projects and other facility-maintenance needs.

You do not need to be an expert estimator in every service. You do need enough practical knowledge of facilities and construction to understand what you are looking at, identify what matters, ask the right questions and return organized information that the NFC estimating and operations teams can use quickly.

Job Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Represent NFC in customer meetings, site visits, pre-bid meetings and national-account opportunities.
  • Travel throughout the United States for customer meetings and site walks, including short-notice travel when an opportunity requires it.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear scopes, action items, owners and deadlines.
  • Walk properties intelligently with customers and document basic scope, accurate measurements, useful photographs, notes and site conditions.
  • Review RFPs, bid documents, scopes of work and submission requirements.
  • Coordinate with estimating and operations teams to develop pricing and practical solutions.
  • Complete RFP responses, bid forms, vendor documents and required paperwork.
  • Manage multiple active opportunities and deadlines at the same time.
  • Quality-check bids and proposals and ensure they are complete and submitted on time.
  • Maintain confident, responsive customer communication before, during and after the bid process.
  • Follow opportunities through the sales process and help move them across the finish line.

The non-negotiable: follow-through

When you say something is going to be done, it gets done.

This is the single most important characteristic NFC will screen for. This position must operate without babysitting, repeated status requests, constantly moving deadlines or explanations after a commitment is missed. You are expected to own the work, maintain control of the details and communicate before a problem becomes a missed commitment.

  • If a bid is due Thursday at 2:00 p.m., it is complete, quality-checked and submitted before Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
  • After a site walk, measurements, photographs, notes and documentation are returned complete, organized and promptly.
  • If you are managing 20 opportunities, you use a reliable system that shows exactly where all 20 stand, what comes next and when each commitment is due.
  • You manage your own workload with discipline and communicate proactively when a legitimate obstacle threatens a commitment.

What success looks like

  • Customer needs and site conditions are documented clearly enough for estimating and operations to act.
  • Customers experience NFC as responsive, professional and solutions-oriented.
  • Internal teams receive timely, accurate information and clear next steps.

What you bring

  • Experience in facilities services, commercial services, construction, landscaping, paving, snow, property services, national accounts, field sales, project coordination or a related environment.
  • A basic understanding of how field services and construction projects work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a polished customer-facing presence.
  • Strong organization, deadline management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately document site conditions, measurements and scope information.
  • Comfort using Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PDFs and cloud-based applications.
  • Ability to adapt quickly across multiple customer and internal technology platforms.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally, sometimes on short notice.

How you operate

  • Outgoing and energetic. You genuinely enjoy talking with people and can build rapport quickly.
  • Confident and well-spoken. You are comfortable with executives, facility managers, contractors, property managers and government representatives.
  • Professional. You dress and communicate appropriately and understand that every customer interaction represents the entire company.
  • Credible. You bring the presence and gravitas that make customers comfortable with NFC's ability to execute.
  • Decisive. Once you understand the few points that matter, you can determine the next action, ask necessary questions and keep moving.
  • Accurate. Measurements, documentation, deadlines and details matter to you.
  • Accountable. If you say you will do something, you do it.
  • Adaptable. You can learn new customers, services, platforms and processes.
  • Driven. You seek responsibility and do not need someone chasing you to get things done.

What is not required

  • A college degree simply for the sake of having one.
  • Fifteen years of experience.
  • Professional estimating experience.
  • An existing book of business.
  • Expertise in every NFC service on day one.
  • Previous experience with this exact job title.

What is required: Execution.

NFC can teach services, systems and processes, and can provide estimating support. Urgency, presence, accountability, communication and follow-through are harder to teach. NFC is more interested in the right person than the perfect resume.

Presence. Communication. Urgency. Accuracy. Accountability. Execution.

If that is how you operate, we want to meet you. Submit your resume through this posting and include a short note describing a commitment you owned, the system you used to manage it and how you ensured it was completed on time.
