WHO WE ARE
For over 50 years, Literacy Minnesota has shared the power of learning through education, community building, and advocacy. We train and place thousands of volunteer tutors each year; help adults build reading, writing, math, English-language, and digital skills; and support the broader field through Literacy Strategies consulting, the statewide Adult Literacy Hotline, and AmeriCorps service. Our Northstar Digital Literacy platform is used by programs across all 50 states and beyond, and we are recognized as a local and national leader in adult education.
Literacy Minnesota's National Service Department engages AmeriCorps members in service across Minnesota and the country, expanding access to literacy and digital skills for under-resourced and historically marginalized communities. Through three AmeriCorps cohorts - Literacy Leadership, Digital Navigation Corps, and Summer Reads - members build the capacity of host sites and deliver direct service to children, youth, adults, and families. All three AmeriCorps programs aim to serve under-resourced and/or historically marginalized communities by expanding access to literacy services.
