DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination, Outreach and Tribal Partnerships

• Coordinates all program activities, events, and culturally specific outreach in alignment with institutional policies, department goals, and approved program objectives. Plans and coordinates Chemeketa information sessions, family and parent workshops, financial aid presentations, family social nights, and scholarship workshops. Oversees event logistics, including scheduling, coordination of resources, participant engagement, and successful event execution.
• Lead culturally specific outreach, recruitment, and partnership activities both on campus and off campus. This includes frequently traveling to meet students, families, and community members where they are by hosting information sessions, orientations, and workshops directly within Tribal facilities and community spaces in partnership with Tribal governments, Native-serving organizations, local school districts, and community-based organizations.
• Cultivate and build upon existing institutional partnerships, such as the New Beginnings for Tribal Students in Oregon initiative with Oregon State University, to strengthen culturally responsive transfer pathways.
• Plans, Coordinates, and executes program events, including family centered workshops, cultural events programming, campus visits, and onboarding experiences.

Student Navigation, Advising, and Holistic Support

• Provide individualized guidance and support to help current and prospective students navigate Chemeketa onboarding systems and overcome barriers to persistence.
• Monitors student progress using EAB Navigate and Slate, proactively identifying academic and personal needs, executing timely interventions, and utilizing Chemeketa's Early Alert System for attendance or academic flags.
• Delivers financial literacy education and scholarship assistance, guiding students through funding opportunities such as the Oregon Tribal Student Grant, Oregon Promise, and federal/state financial aid.
• Connect students to other wraparound support programs and external resources that address barriers related to housing, food security, transportation, and childcare, while collaborating closely with TRIO/CCP programs for seamless support.

Family Engagement & Community Building

• Facilitates dedicated orientation and onboarding experiences for Native American and Alaska Native students, their families, and community members not currently pursuing higher education directly within Tribal facilities and community locations.
• Provides orientation services to prospective students by sharing information about educational opportunities and helping them understand the steps required to become a student. Supports onboarding and enrollment processes by assisting with admissions applications, first-term advising, registration, and navigation of enrollment requirements. Connects students and families to on-campus resources and services to promote successful transition, engagement, and persistence.
• Coordinate family-centered workshops and events to foster belonging and build trust.
• Collaborate with Peer Mentors to create leadership opportunities that allow students to support their peers and advocate for student needs.
• Connect Native American and Alaska/Native students to peers, access academic support, and participate in cultural programming in the multicultural center.
• Partners with campus resources-including the Multicultural Student Center, Safe Haven
• Resource Center, and Student Accessibility Services-to provide holistic, intersectional support.

Program Data, and Continuous Improvement

• Utilize the EAB Navigate Care Unit function to document appointments, record case notes, track referrals, and monitor student engagement.
• Ensure ongoing consultation with Native American and Alaska/Native students, families, and Tribal partners so that community voice remains central to program implementation and shared decision-making
• Participate in annual planning process and evaluation of program services within the College Access Programs

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

This level requires an equivalency of six (6) years of full-time work experience related to the essential functions and duties of the position listed above.

• OR-

Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Sciences or a related field

• AND-

Two (2) years of full-time work experience related to the essential functions and duties of the position listed above.

Note: No substitutions will be made for one (1) year of full-time work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Direct experience working with Native American and Alaska Native students, supported by a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, tribal communities, and the unique educational and social factors impacting student success.

• Two (2) years in higher education or providing services to at-risk students.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

• This is a 100%, 12-month classified assignment at the level 16 pay rate. This is a grant funded position with an end date of June 30, 2027.
• This position has a 6-month probationary period
• All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
• Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
• This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
• If requested, requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
• Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
