Jacobs Entertainment is currently in search of a "Sous Chef" for Windows on the River. Spectacular inside and out, Windows on the River prepares and presents gourmet cuisine in a dramatic yet comfortable setting with dazzling views of Cleveland's unique signature bridges and sparkling skyline. Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in preparing ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring food items
- Supports Kitchen Manager with assembling dishes and plating
- Supervising food production personnel and ensuring quality and cost standards are met
- Assist Kitchen Manager in supervising Utility/Prep and Dishwashing staff and ensuring quality and cost standards are met
- Ability to work collaboratively with the chef and other kitchen staff
- Flexibility to adjust to changing kitchen dynamics and priorities
- Ability to think critically and resolve kitchen issues efficiently
- Effective communication with staff, suppliers, and other departments
- Potential to take charge of the kitchen in the Kitchen Manager absence
- Prep and cook hors d'oeuvres for banquet events
- Responsible for the preparation and plating of all meals or events assigned
- Responsible for preparation of all sauces, dressings, and all presentations in the operation
- Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies and inventory regularly
- Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward
- Monitor expiration dates and quality of food items, reporting any issues to kitchen management
- Assist in the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping and mopping floors
- Report any damaged or broken equipment to the Kitchen Manager
- Act as a liaison between three kitchens for Kitchen Manager and Executive Chef
- Follow all food safety procedures and guidelines
Skills, Education and Other Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen action station is preferred
- Previous experience in a leadership role in the kitchen
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to Stand for up to 8hrs during shift
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 70lbs
