Craft Master Instructor/Writer Duties include primary and assistant instructor tasks. Conduct training in classrooms and shops and on board vessels and dockside for topics such as maritime systems, Rules of the Road, Marine Radar and vessel operations. Instructors/writers direct movement of Landing Craft Utility (LCU) in practice amphibious assault type scenarios. Direct docking and undocking in landing types (LHA, LHD, LPD, and LSD), beaching and retracting, loading stowage, and equipment/supplies in various ship and shore movement scenarios. Direct movement of craft employing Rules of the Road, electronic and visual navigation, and radio and visual communications procedures. Edit, , recommend changes to lesson plans, plan instruction including training schedules, TCFE 719s for pier space, graduation services, and simulator support. Provide remedial assistance and prepare classroom and training materials for presentation. Develop maritime technical training lesson plans relating to army watercraft engine operations.
