The NC Lathes #1 operator sets up and operates multi-axis CNC lathe machines to perform various metalworking operations such as turning, facing, boring, threading, and drilling on forgings, castings, and bar stock. Responsibilities include program management, tool setup, workpiece alignment, tool wear monitoring, and quality verification through precision measurements. The role requires minimal supervision and may involve some welding tasks, like changing gas tanks and wires.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or G.E.D., with preferred technical training or an associate degree. Candidates should have over four years of relevant experience, basic computer skills, and knowledge of CNC control systems, materials, and machining processes. Skills in machine setup, tooling, and inspection are essential, along with adherence to safety and housekeeping policies.
