Employment Term: 230 Days, 2026-2027 School Year

Salary: Based on the current JROTC pay schedule (JSIPS). Enlisted and Officer salary is determined by education level and experience.

Location: Preston High School

Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:

1. If on active duty, be within one year of retirement with documentation indicating a desire to retire.
2. If retired, have been retired from active duty for less than three (3) years, and be receiving retired pay.
3. Has been approved as a JROTC instructor by U.S. Army.
4. Must meet other JROTC requirements

Applicants must be approved by US Army as a JROTC Instructor prior to employment. 1) Pre-qualification Memo Received 2) TIER 1 Army Childcare Background Check Complete Must complete a Preston County schools application, as well as an Army application for approval of employment in the JROTC program at the following website:

Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct the JROTC program in accordance with applicable law, and Army and Cadet Command regulations and policies. After hired, the Army JROTC Basic Instructor Certification ( A two-phased course) is required for new instructors within their first academic school year. Perform other duties as JROTC instructor. Responsible for overall management of the JROTC program Maintain professional work habits, attitudes and appearances Monitor student progress toward mastery of the instructional goals and objectives Adapt curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and special abilities Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment Assist in the recruitment and placement of students in the specified program area and cooperate with other vocational teachers and employers in job placement of students Advise the CTE administration of the presence of any situation that may require immediate intervention so as not to hinder the instructional program Fulfill annual continuing education requirements and attend other required training programs Perform other duties as assigned by the CTE Administration
