Position Description & Details
NOTE: Applicants must be an MSU Junior or Senior and have been nominated by a faculty member to NDCPD Interdisciplinary Scholar Program
The North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities has an INTERDISCIPLINARY SCHOLAR PROGRAM to provide opportunities for MSU students to gain skills and knowledge for supporting individuals with disabilities and their families. This program is intended for juniors, seniors, or graduate students who are nominated from a disability-related MSU department to get an understanding of interdisciplinary and family-centered care. Over the course of the academic year, interdisciplinary scholars will attend didactic training sessions, complete a family mentorship project, engage in research activities, and participate in clinical observations and a parent-directed clinic. The Scholars will also complete a series of reflection papers based on their experiences within these activities.
Scholars will be hired early in the fall (beginning of the academic year) and will finish in May (end of the academic year). The total number of hours for the Scholar program is 100, which averages out to be about three hours a week over the entire academic year. After successful completion of required activities, Scholars will receive a $500 stipend at the end of each semester and a certificate of completion at the end of the program.
This is a great opportunity for Scholars to add leadership skills and experience to their resume and network with experienced and reputable professionals in interdisciplinary fields both statewide and nationally.
REQUIREMENTS: Scholars must be nominated by an MSU chairperson or faculty member from disability-related departments. Chairs should send an email with their nomination to JoLynn Webster @ jolynn.webster@minotstateu.edu. After the email is sent, Scholars must go through the MSU application process via the NDCPD Scholar posting on https://www.minotstateu.edu/hr/jobs/ within the Student Employment Openings section. The application process is a formality to ensure the stipend payment can be processed at the appropriate time.
