Neonatologist - Level II Special Care Nursery
MedStar Harbor Hospital / Baltimore, Maryland
MedStar Harbor Hospital, a member of the MedStar Health system, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Neonatologist to provide care in our Level II Special Care Nursery and well-baby nursery. This full-time position includes a mix of day and night shifts, with weekends and holidays shared equitably among the physician group.
The 10-bed Level II Special Care Nursery admits approximately 150 infants annually, caring for newborns with prematurity up to 32weeks or 1500gms, respiratory distress, complications of transition, infection, feeding issues, and neonatal withdrawal. The Mother/Baby unit delivers approximately 1,000 newborns per year. Infants requiring higher levels of care are stabilized and transferred to tertiary NICUs within the region.
Responsibilities include:
Care of infants in the Special Care Nursery and newborn nursery
Attendance at deliveries and neonatal resuscitation
Stabilization and management of premature or ill newborns prior to transfer
Neonatal procedures including intubation and umbilical catheter placement
Collaboration with obstetric and multidisciplinary care teams
Qualifications:
MD or DO with eligibility for Maryland medical licensure
Board certification in Pediatrics
Completion of an accredited Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship
Board certification or eligibility in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
NRP and BLS certification
