Nephrologist

  • 1 – Nephrologist – Blackfeet Service Unit (6months or longer) – Starting as soon as possible

    • PRN – 3 days per month, consecutive days on a planned schedule.

Scheduling

  • BFSU Orientation schedule? Will this part-time Nephrologist need to plan on multiple days of orientation during their initial visit? Yes, initial day will be orientation and familiarization with the I.H.S. electronic health system as well as other orientation.

  • Will we need to plan for more than 3 days in the first month, or plan for a quick return after orientation? I would just plan on a quick turn around so the information garnered on the orientation days isn’t lost to time.

  • Confirm 3 consecutive days per month remains acceptable. Yes.

  • What are the specific clinic hours expected? Roughly 8 hours a day, 8am – 5pm with an hours lunch.

  • Are there specific days of the week that work best for the clinic? Prior Doctor would come on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday would work.

Clinical

  • How many patients per day are expected? Roughly 14 per day.

  • Typical age range? 20 years old and up.

  • Typical cases? What types of kidney disease are most commonly treated? Diabetes related and hypertension.

  • How much support is provided by APPs, RNs, MAs, and care coordinators? 1 RN and a Health Tech.

  • What administrative tasks fall on the physician versus support staff? None to very little.

  • What specialists are available for collaboration (cardiology, urology, endocrinology, vascular surgery)? None

  • Are nephrology templates and order sets already built into the EMR? Yes

  • How quickly can imaging, pathology, and lab results be obtained? Within a week

  • How many CKD, ESRD, transplant and AKI patients are seen? Over 300

  • Is there expectation and support to perform procedures (biopsies, dialysis catheter management, etc.)? No response

Dialysis Not in theoutpatient clinic. These are typically referred out.

  • What is the relationship with local dialysis centers? Good as our prior provider was the director of the dialysis center through another contract.

  • Is dialysis performed onsite or through a partner organization? Separate facility locally called DIA.

  • What percentage of patients are hemodialysis versus peritoneal dialysis? Unknown by me currently.

  • Is there a home dialysis program? Only Peritoneal run through the dialysis center.
