    The Airport – Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT)
    Wichita’s Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport provides daily nonstop service to major hubs including Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Phoenix via American, United, Delta, Southwest, Allegiant, and Frontier airlines. Located just 6 miles southwest of downtown, the airport makes travel convenient and accessible for locum providers commuting from anywhere in the country.

    Facility – Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center
    The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is a full-service Veterans Affairs hospital serving over 25,000 Veterans across south-central Kansas. The medical center provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care including primary care, specialty medicine, surgery, mental health, and long-term care. The Nephrology section operates within the Medicine Service, providing the full spectrum of kidney care including outpatient CKD management, dialysis oversight, and inpatient nephrology consultations. This is a modern, well-equipped facility with a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment.

    Location – 5500 E. Kellogg, Wichita, KS 67218

    Nephrologist – RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
    • Provide comprehensive nephrology physician services covering the full range of kidney care to eligible VA beneficiaries.
    • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic kidney disease.
    • Oversee and manage dialysis programs in accordance with VHA kidney health policies.
    • Provide inpatient nephrology consultations and on-call coverage including telephonic response and weekend/holiday rounds.
    • Interpret laboratory results and diagnostic studies related to renal function.
    • Develop individualized treatment plans including medication management, dialysis prescriptions, and transplant evaluations.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including primary care, surgery, and other specialty services.
    • Maintain compliance with VHA clinical practice guidelines for chronic kidney disease prevention, recognition, and management.
    • Participate in quality assurance and peer review programs.

    Nephrologist – REQUIREMENTS
    • Must be a graduate of an accredited medical school with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree.
    • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology (recent graduates up to four years are acceptable).
    • Must have completed a fellowship in Nephrology.
    • Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
    • Must have current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Must have an active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.

    Schedule: Clinic hours plus on-call coverage including telephonic response and weekend/holiday rounds as needed.
