Key Responsibilities of the Net Revenue Accountant



  • Prepare monthly revenue close packages, journal entries, and supporting schedules

  • Analyze net revenue trends, patient accounts receivable, and key financial variances

  • Maintain and update accounts receivable reserve models, including bad debt and contractual reserve calculations

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate reporting of net patient revenue and AR balances

  • Prepare monthly revenue forecasts and assist with annual budgeting activities

  • Partner with Revenue Cycle and Finance teams to improve the accuracy of revenue reporting and financial results

  • Prepare audit workpapers and support internal and external audit requests

  • Evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy

  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and special accounting projects



Qualifications for the Net Revenue Accountant



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Healthcare accounting or hospital net revenue experience strongly preferred

  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting required

  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP

  • Experience with patient accounts receivable, revenue recognition, or reimbursement accounting is highly preferred

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required

  • CPA preferred, but not required

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
