The
Netsmart Custom Report Writer serves as a reporting and analytics specialist responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining custom reports, dashboards, scorecards, and Key Performance Indicators within Netsmart environments, with particular emphasis on
myAvatar and/or myEvolv.
This role works directly with executive, financial, clinical, operational, compliance, and technical stakeholders to understand the questions they need answered and translate those requirements into meaningful reporting and analytics solutions.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical reporting and SQL expertise with an understanding of Human Services operations. The goal is not simply to produce more reports—it is to provide
accurate, accessible, actionable information that leadership can trust and use to make better decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesNetsmart Reporting & Development- Develop, customize, optimize, and maintain reports within Netsmart environments, including myAvatar and myEvolv.
- Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, datasets, and other reporting components.
- Analyze existing reports and identify opportunities to improve performance, usability, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot reporting issues and resolve data, logic, performance, or configuration problems.
- Develop automated reporting processes and appropriate refresh schedules.
- Maintain clear documentation of report logic, data sources, calculations, and dependencies.
Dashboards, KPIs & Analytics- Design and develop dashboards for executive, clinical, financial, operational, compliance, and other organizational stakeholders.
- Work with leadership to identify meaningful Key Performance Indicators and translate organizational goals into measurable metrics.
- Develop scorecards and visualizations that clearly communicate organizational performance and trends.
- Define and document KPI calculations, business rules, data sources, and reporting methodologies.
- Help organizations move from static reporting toward more actionable performance analytics.
- Identify trends, exceptions, risks, and opportunities within organizational data.
Business Requirements & Consulting- Meet with client executives, managers, clinicians, financial teams, and operational stakeholders to understand their reporting and information needs.
- Translate business questions and operational requirements into technical reporting solutions.
- Help stakeholders determine not only what data is available, but what information is most meaningful to measure.
- Recommend reporting strategies that improve organizational visibility and decision-making.
- Communicate technical concepts and data findings in language appropriate for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Data Quality & Validation- Validate report accuracy and ensure consistency across reporting environments.
- Identify discrepancies, incomplete data, inconsistent definitions, and other data-quality concerns.
- Work with client teams to determine whether reporting issues originate from report logic, system configuration, workflow, documentation, or data-entry practices.
- Establish appropriate validation processes before reports and dashboards are released to users.
- Help clients develop greater confidence in the accuracy and reliability of their EHR data.
Clinical, Financial & Operational Reporting- Support reporting initiatives related to clinical performance, operational efficiency, productivity, revenue cycle management, compliance, quality improvement, and executive decision-making.
- Develop reports and dashboards that help leadership identify operational bottlenecks and performance trends.
- Support revenue-cycle reporting and visibility into financial performance when appropriate.
- Assist with compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Help organizations reduce dependence on manual spreadsheets and disconnected reporting processes where appropriate.
Training & Knowledge Transfer- Provide training and support to users on reporting tools, dashboards, KPIs, and report interpretation.
- Develop documentation and reference materials for reports and dashboards.
- Transfer reporting knowledge to appropriate client personnel to support long-term sustainability.
- Collaborate with client teams to encourage consistent definitions and use of organizational KPIs.
Required Qualifications- 3+ years of experience developing reports within Netsmart environments.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Netsmart myAvatar and/or myEvolv reporting.
- Advanced SQL and relational database experience.
- Strong SQL Server/T-SQL skills.
- Experience developing custom reports, reporting datasets, and complex queries.
- Demonstrated experience building KPIs, scorecards, and executive dashboards.
- Experience with one or more reporting or Business Intelligence platforms such as:
- Power BI
- Tableau
- SSRS
- Crystal Reports
- Understanding of EHR data and healthcare or Human Services operational workflows.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience specifically within Human Services, behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, addiction treatment, or other community-based service organizations.
- Experience developing executive-level reporting and dashboards.
- Experience with healthcare financial, revenue cycle, clinical, compliance, and operational reporting.
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing.
- Experience integrating and reporting data from multiple systems or data sources.
- Understanding of HIPAA and healthcare compliance reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of HL7, interoperability concepts, or healthcare data standards.
- Experience working in a healthcare IT or EHR consulting environment.
