Network Administrators are the backbone of an organization's IT infrastructure. They are responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems, ensuring that internal and external communications are efficient, secure, and robust.

Core Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Management

• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks
• Manage LAN, WAN, intranets, VPNs, and MPLS circuits
• Monitor network performance and ensure high availability and uptime
• Apply patches, firmware updates, and maintain hardware inventory
• Plan and execute network changes via formal change control processes

Cloud & Hybrid Networking

• Manage cloud networking on AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, and Google Cloud
• Oversee SD-WAN deployment and cloud-based SaaS integration
• Ensure reliable, secure connectivity for remote and distributed workforce
• Support hybrid cloud environments across on-prem and cloud-hosted workloads
• Configure and optimize cloud-native firewall and network access policies

Security & Zero Trust

• Implement and maintain Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) policies
• Manage firewall rules, IDS/IPS, and network access control (NAC) systems
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and patch management cycles
• Monitor for threats using SIEM tools; coordinate incident response
• Enforce SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) frameworks for distributed users
• Support compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, and GDPR requirements

Monitoring, Observability & AIOps

• Deploy and manage network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Datadog, Grafana)
• Perform proactive capacity planning and bandwidth trend analysis
• Use AIOps platforms for predictive fault detection and auto-remediation
• Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines (CMDB)
• Generate weekly/monthly SLA and performance reports for stakeholders

Incident & Problem Management

• Act as the first responder for network incidents (P1/P2 SLA adherence)
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews
• Maintain and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans
• Collaborate with NOC, SOC, and service desk for end-to-end incident resolution
• Document known errors and workarounds in the knowledge base

Technical Skills

• Routing & Switching: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs, QoS
• Firewall & VPN: Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, IPSec, SSL VPN
• Cloud Networking: AWS / Azure / GCP networking fundamentals
• Scripting & Automation: Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform
• Wireless: Wi-Fi 6/6E, controller management, site surveys
• Monitoring & Logging: SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, SIEM integration
• Security Frameworks: Zero Trust, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2
• ITSM: ITIL v4, ServiceNow, change & incident management

Soft Skills

• Analytical Thinking: Diagnose complex, multi-layer network issues quickly
• Communication: Translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders
• Attention to Detail: Config errors can cause major outages — precision is critical
• Proactive Problem Solving: Identify risks before they become incidents
• Teamwork: Collaborate with NOC, SOC, service desk, and vendors
• Adaptability: Rapidly evolving technology landscape requires continuous learning
