This is an in person on site position at our offices located in Lynden, WA 98264

Wage: Hourly $28.00 - #33.00 per hour

ROLE: The Network Administrator, Level 1 supports the Lynden Door Family of Companies by installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting network systems that ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing IT operations.

This role focuses on day-to-day network support, assisting with LAN/WAN connectivity, network hardware, IP-based services, and occasional foundational system administration tasks. The administrator will collaborate with our IT group to maintain infrastructure standards, respond to service disruptions, and continuously improve network reliability.

The Network Administrator will reflect the goals and objectives stated in the Company Statement of Purpose by demonstrating excellence, professionalism, teamwork, and a desire to grow technical skills—particularly in enterprise networking.

HOURS: Monday-Friday, Day Hours (40 hours/week), additional off-hours as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Network Operations & Support

  • Provide Tier II Helpdesk support with an emphasis on network-related incidents, including connectivity issues, VoIP problems, and performance degradation.
  • Assist in the configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure, including:
    • Switches
    • Routers
    • Wireless access points
    • Network-connected peripherals
  • Monitor network performance and availability using established monitoring tools and escalate issues as needed.
  • Support LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks across multiple locations.
  • Assist with IP telephony systems (Mitel/ShoreTel), including user setup, handset configuration, and basic call routing troubleshooting.
  • Document network changes, incidents, and configurations according to IT standards.

Infrastructure & Systems Support

  • Assist with maintaining the operational integrity of production, test, and development environments.
  • Support Active Directory user administration, ensuring proper access to network resources.
  • Assist in applying network-adjacent patches, firmware updates, and configuration changes under change management processes.
  • Collaborate with senior administrators to ensure backup systems and network services function as expected.
  • Help keep shared IT spaces and service areas clean.

Proactive Maintenance & Improvement

  • Help proactively identify potential network issues before they impact users.
  • Participate in testing new network-related technologies, updates, and configurations.
  • Assist with maintaining organization and cleanliness of network and server rooms, including cabling standards and labeling.

Collaboration & Growth

  • Work closely with Systems Administrators and Network Engineers to support department goals.
  • Assist other members of the Technology Group as needed.
  • Perform duties outside normal business hours when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Core Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, especially for network connectivity and infrastructure issues.
  • Clear and professional communication skills for working with end users and IT peers.
  • Strong understanding of core IT and networking concepts.

Technical Knowledge (Level 1 Expected)

  • Foundational knowledge of:
    • TCP/IP networking fundamentals
    • DNS, DHCP, and basic routing concepts
    • Ethernet standards and network cabling (Cat6+, fiber)
  • Basic familiarity with:
    • Managed switches and routers
    • Wireless networking concepts
    • Network monitoring tools
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Windows Active Directory and its interaction with network services
    • IP telephony systems (Mitel/ShoreTel preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of scripting and automation concepts (PowerShell preferred).

Professional Skills

  • Strong organizational skills for managing tasks, incidents, and documentation.
  • Understanding basic change management and IT service practices.
  • Ability and willingness to learn enterprise networking technologies and standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE: Associate’s Degree in one of the following: Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Process, Business Administration, Project Management, or related fields

TRAVEL: Minimal local travel with occasional trips to branch office locations or conferences
