Network Engineer

Description

Concept Solutions is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure Support team's Networks group in Anchorage, Alaska. In this role, you will help administer, operate, and maintain a large enterprise network while performing infrastructure upgrades and improving both wired and wireless network capabilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on network professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, taking ownership of critical projects, and supporting reliable network operations across multiple locations.

• Administer, operate, and maintain the enterprise network.
• Perform infrastructure upgrades and improve wired and wireless networks.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization.
• Perform system capacity analysis and planning.
• Plan and perform network engineering research, design, development, and other assignments in conformance with network design, engineering, and customer specifications.
• Track and resolve network incidents through the established ticket queue.
• Follow required maintenance windows and change-control procedures.
• Travel up to 25% to support remote sites throughout the United States.
• Work 100% onsite in Anchorage, Alaska.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field and eight years of IT experience, or 12 years of IT experience without a degree.

• At least five years of experience supporting both wired and wireless Cisco networks in a large enterprise campus environment with multilayer routing protocols.

• Strong Layer 3 networking experience, including:

• OSPF

• BGP, including multihoming, traffic load balancing and engineering, and automatic failover

• EIGRP

• RIP

• HSRP

• WCCP

• Multicast

• Strong network troubleshooting skills across:

• Layer 1: Copper cabling issues and fiber signal strength

• Layer 2: Spanning Tree Protocol, VLAN tagging, and MAC address tracing

• Layer 3: Routing issues, EGP and IGP redistribution, BGP attribute analysis, and prefix-length issues

• Layers 4-7: Troubleshooting connectivity, transport, and application-layer issues

• Network architecture and design experience, including:

• Designing networks scalable to 10 Gbps or more

• Creating routing policies for automatic failover

• Developing network designs and diagrams using Microsoft Visio

• Experience tracking and resolving incidents through a ticketing system.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to follow maintenance windows and change-control procedures.

• Strong commitment to industry best practices and a dependable work ethic.

• Self-motivated, with the ability to take ownership of projects.

• Ability to manage multiple networks and customer requirements simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Flow analysis experience.
• MPLS experience.
• Experience supporting a large organization with more than 35,000 customers.
• Experience collaborating with peer teams and client stakeholders.
• Experience working in both remote and onsite environments.
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
• Experience using a help desk or IT service management system; ServiceNow experience is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Project and Visio.

Work Location and Schedule

Primary Location: FAA Alaskan Regional Office, 222 West 7th Avenue, #14, Anchorage, AK 99513

Schedule: 100% onsite, with up to 25% travel to support remote sites within the United States

Clearance: FAA Personnel Suitability clearance required (AMS 3.14-2)

Compensation: $95K to $108K
