Typical Day-to-Day:
  • Monitor - Check dashboards for network issues, security alerts, or performance problems
  • Fix - Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues, VPN problems, or outages as they come up
  • Build - Configure routers, firewalls, or switches for upgrades, new locations, or security improvements
  • Document - Update network diagrams, configurations, and procedures to maintain compliance
  • Collaborate - Work with IT team, vendors, and security staff on projects and audit prep
  • On-call availability for emergencies outside business hours

Years' Experience/Degree Requirements/Certification: . BS in Info Systems/CS and 3-5 years of experience

SUMMARY
The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure supporting client's, Inc. and its subsidiaries. This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-performing network services across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, with a strong emphasis on compliance, cybersecurity, and operational excellence in support of federal and commercial customers.

This position is remote with occasional travel; however, candidates based in Juneau are preferred due to the complexity of the local network.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Design, configure, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and firewall solutions
Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity to ensure reliability and scalability
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity, latency, and security incidents
Implement and maintain network security controls in accordance with NIST, DoD, and customer security requirements
Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and load balancers from vendors such as HPE Aruba, SonicWALL, or equivalent.
Support cloud and hybrid networking solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS, or other government-approved cloud environments)
Maintain network documentation, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and configuration baselines
Participate in system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle replacement activities
Collaborate with Vendors, Partners, and IT operations teams to ensure integrated and compliant solutions
Support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, audits, and compliance assessments as required
Provide Tier II/Tier III network support and on-call support as needed
Ensure compliance with client policies, customer requirements, and applicable federal regulations

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, routing, and switching
  • Working knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, access controls, and secure remote access
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple environments and layers
  • Familiarity with network monitoring, logging, and performance management tools
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Possesses attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers and with outside agencies, partners, shareholders, and business associates
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt messages and strategies for diverse audiences
  • Basic understanding of relevant software, tools, and systems used in the corporate environment. This includes a proficiency in standard software applications, including Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with strong knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft applications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum of 3 5 years of experience in network engineering or network administration roles
Hands-on experience configuring and supporting enterprise networking technologies (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)
Must have the ability to pass a pre-employment background

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Security+, Network+, or equivalent
Previous experience working with ANCs
Previous government contracting experience
