Network Engineer II

The Network Engineer II is responsible for all aspects related to the maintenance, repair and support of networks and network-related products to ensure continued operation and functionality of Synoptek and customer network environments. The ideal candidate will have the ability to be technically hands-on, providing high-quality technical support to customers, speaking with a high level of technical understanding, making routine network changes, resolving technical problems, and helping to proactively prevent new issues as it relates to Synoptek and their client's IT infrastructure.

Has expert knowledge of how application data flows over the network (firm foundation of OSI model)
Has advanced understanding of routing and switching in network environments including campus LAN, full-meshed WAN, SD-WAN, and Datacenter networks
Has advanced understanding of routing protocols including static routing and dynamic routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
Has advanced understanding and experience supporting layer 2 LAN topologies including extending VLANs across a network core, assigning VLANs to switch ports, manipulating spanning tree topologies, and operating in a highly redundant DataCenter LAN environment using technologies such as VXLAN, EtherChannel, and Cisco Nexus fabric
Has advanced understanding or and experience with firewall concepts such as security rule creation, NAT, LAN to LAN IPSEC tunnels, SSL VPN, routing, Unified Threat Management, application-layer security, and SD-WAN
Has advanced understanding of Wireless LAN concepts such as SSID creation, Access Point configuration and troubleshooting, Wireless LAN Controller configuration and troubleshooting, radio tuning, and authentication and authorization concepts such as RADIUS
Has general understanding of Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and Application Load Balancing operation and configuration
