Network Engineer

The Opportunity

We are seeking a high-caliber Network Engineer for a permanent role with one of the nation’s largest tire distributors. Our client manages a sophisticated supply chain network involving dozens of high-capacity distribution centers.

In this role, you aren’t just keeping the "internet" up; you are ensuring the flow of commerce. From automated conveyor systems to global inventory tracking, your work directly impacts a multi-billion dollar logistics engine.

The Tech Environment

Our client operates a complex, multi-site environment that requires a blend of traditional networking and modern SD-WAN solutions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Connectivity: Manage and optimize a robust WAN/LAN infrastructure connecting regional hubs and satellite warehouses.
  • Wireless Optimization: Tune and troubleshoot high-density Wi-Fi environments (essential for warehouse RF scanners and autonomous mobile robots).
  • Network Security: Oversee firewall configurations, intrusion detection, and secure remote access for a mobile workforce.
  • Project Leadership: Lead hardware refreshes and network expansions as the company continues to open new distribution points.
  • Vendor Management: Interface with ISPs and hardware vendors to ensure maximum uptime and service level agreement (SLA) compliance.

Candidate Requirements

  • Industry Background: Prior experience in Logistics, Distribution, or Manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with Cisco (Catalyst/Nexus), Fortinet, or Palo Alto.
  • Protocol Mastery: Expertise in OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
  • Certifications: CCNA or CCNP is strongly desired.
  • Availability: Participation in an on-call rotation (this is a 24/7 distribution operation).

Why This Role?

  • Recession-Proof Industry: Automotive logistics remains a stable, essential sector.
  • Growth: The client is currently expanding their digital footprint, offering long-term career progression.
  • Impact: You will have significant autonomy to suggest and implement infrastructure improvements.
