We are seeking a Network Engineer with expertise in Observability/Monitoring platforms for an onsite role in Owings Mills, MD (4 days/week). Candidates must be USC or GC and local to the area.
The Network Observability Engineer will collaborate with network infrastructure teams to evaluate, recommend, and implement proactive management tools for a converged data, voice, and video network environment. Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining management tools for real-time and historical network visibility, updating software, and working with vendors to resolve issues. When off-the-shelf solutions are insufficient, the engineer will develop custom scripts and tools to automate processes and enhance infrastructure monitoring.
Qualifications include proficiency with UNIX/RedHat Linux, understanding of SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow, TACACS, and alerting systems, and familiarity with databases like MySQL, Postgres, and Vertica. Desired skills encompass experience with network management scripting, ServiceNow, automation tools like Ansible, Cisco device configuration, scripting languages (Perl, Python), and monitoring platforms such as ThousandEyes, ScienceLogic, and SolarWinds. Knowledge of IPAM, cloud discovery, and network analytics suites is also preferred.
