Position Title: Network Engineer - Senior 
Location: Peterson, SFB (on-site)

Position Description:

Under general direction, the Senior Network Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and support of enterprise network communications and infrastructure environments, including LAN/WAN systems, virtualization platforms, cloud integrations, and disaster recovery solutions. This role evaluates existing systems, develops scalable architecture solutions, and leads complex technical projects requiring advanced analysis and problem-solving. The incumbent serves as a technical leader, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers while ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise IT systems.

Performance shall include:

  • Designing and defining system architecture for new or existing computer system
  • Applying proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments
  • Designing, implementing and managing high availability/clustering and disaster recovery environment
  • Supporting establishment of plans and templates in line with the overall technical architecture format and program infrastructure platform
  • Completing technical documentation to design, test, implement, train, and transition solutions to operational support
  • Troubleshooting and deep dive into VMware infrastructure. Other application experience is helpful: Exchange Server, Active Directory, Azure, VPN, and other relevant IT related technologies
  • Monitoring, administer, and maintain vCenter modules and configurations
  • Supporting implementation, configuration, operations, and maintenance of VMware components to include vCenter Server, ESXi Hosts, Standard/Distributed vSwitches, vSphere Data Protection, Operations Manager, etc.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining a hybrid cloud integrate with multiple public cloud service providers
  • Researching/assisting in development, and/or participating in hands-on installation, configuration, and maintenance of large enterprise applications. Includes troubleshooting hardware, software, network and system production issues, supporting deployment of other Storage and OS configuration components, automation and upgrade, Continuity of Operation, backup and recovery

Other Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
