Location: Ashburn, VA.

Description:

  • Principal Network Engineer to serve as the technical lead for a high-priority network transformation project. You will be the "Primary Engineer" and technical point of contact for the client. Your mission is to oversee the configuration, staging, and migration of 1,500 client devices (routers and Cradlepoint out-of-band units) to transition connections to new data center locations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Act as the Primary Engineer for the duration of the 14-month project, providing technical guidance to the project team and client stakeholders.
  • Solution Design & Validation: Review current-state client WAN designs and select appropriate "go-forward" designs from client approved templates. You will determine specific hardware, software, and circuit requirements needed for each migration.
  • Advanced Configuration: Lead the migration of 1,500 VPNs and the transition of eSolutions to 10.164 NAT space. You will manage complex firewall rule migrations to secure perimeter policies on an application basis.
  • Method of Procedure (MOP) Development: Author and review step-by-step MOPs detailing logical configurations and validation tests. This includes implementation, health check, and escalation procedures.
  • Staging & Quality Control: Oversee the staging and "golden image" preparation for 1,500 routers and 1,500 Cradlepoint devices at Telecommunication warehouse locations, including firmware updates and base configuration applications.
  • Migration Execution: Conduct pilot implementations and provide remote support for full-scale cutovers, including the configuration of remote-end VPN gateways and MPLS devices during after-hours maintenance windows.
Technical Qualifications:
  • Enterprise Routing/Switching: Deep expertise in configuring and troubleshooting enterprise-grade routers and switches (Devices).
  • WAN & Connectivity: Extensive experience with MPLS, Internet VPNs, and LTE/Cellular backup solutions.
  • Cloud & Fabric Connect: Proficiency in cloud connectivity models, including Azure, AWS, and Equinix Fabric Connect.
  • Network Security: Experience with NAT migrations, VPN architecture, and firewall policy management.
  • Staging Tools: Familiarity with mass-device staging, SIM activation (for Cradlepoint), and automated configuration scripts.
