Location: Clinton Township, Michigan, with travel between local sites

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Network Field Engineer to support LAN and WAN connectivity, network infrastructure, and application performance across multiple locations.
This is a hands-on field engineering position that requires travel from site to site to troubleshoot incidents, complete service requests, install and configure network equipment, activate ports, update firmware, and support network-related projects. The ideal candidate has strong Cisco experience, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
- Support LAN, WAN, and enterprise network connectivity across multiple locations.
- Travel between sites to troubleshoot network incidents, complete service requests, and support infrastructure projects.
- Monitor day-to-day data network operations within an assigned area.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network devices.
- Configure network switches, activate ports, and complete firmware updates.
- Troubleshoot routers, firewalls, PCs, printers, network connections, and application performance issues.
- Support routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Provide technical assistance and timely resolution for network problems.
- Analyze network performance, identify issues, and implement appropriate solutions.
- Plan and implement Cisco-based network solutions of intermediate to advanced complexity.
- Recommend and assist with complex network upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams, technical partners, and end users to resolve performance issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of networking and security best practices.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation using Microsoft Visio and related tools.
- Participate in the on-call rotation.
- Mentor team members and share technical knowledge as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Two to four years of hands-on network support and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco network devices.
- Strong understanding of LAN, WAN, firewalls, routers, switches, PCs, and printers.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Experience with port activations, switch configuration, and firmware updates.
- Ability to independently analyze network issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong critical-thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
- Strong communication, documentation, teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between local sites.
- CCNA certification or active progress toward obtaining it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or one to two years of vocational or technical training in networking, information technology, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, networking, or a related discipline.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate certification.
- Experience with ServiceNow.
- Experience working with Avaya systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Experience creating network documentation using Microsoft Visio.
- Previous experience mentoring technical team members.
