The Department of Revenue (DOR) Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance the State's enterprise networking environment. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise data center and campus network infrastructure, including modern software-defined networking, identity-driven access controls, observability platforms, and advanced security solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Cisco networking technologies, enterprise-scale infrastructure operations, and modern network security practices. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical leadership, analytical problem-solving abilities, and experience supporting mission-critical statewide systems and data center operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesCisco ACI & Data Center Networking
  • Design, implement, and maintain Cisco Nexus platforms operating in ACI mode.
  • Configure and manage ACI components including:
    • VRFs
    • Bridge Domains (BDs)
    • EPGs/ESGs
    • L3Outs
    • Contracts
    • Fabric policies
  • Integrate Cisco ACI with virtualization and container platforms including Red Hat OpenShift VMM and Isovalent/Cilium.
  • Configure and optimize RoCEv2 for high-performance, low-latency workloads.
  • Troubleshoot ACI fabric health, endpoint learning, segmentation, contracts, and multi-tenant environments.
  • Develop and maintain operational standards, architecture documentation, and runbooks.
Cisco Catalyst & Software-Defined Access (SDA)
  • Deploy, configure, and support Cisco Catalyst switching platforms within enterprise campus environments.
  • Design and administer Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA) architectures, including:
    • SDA Wired Fabric
    • Fabric-Enabled Wireless
    • Underlay and overlay networks
    • Policy-based segmentation
    • Authentication integrations
    • Assurance operations
  • Collaborate with wireless engineering teams to improve network coverage, performance, and policy enforcement.
Identity-Driven Networking & Security
  • Configure and administer Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for:
    • TACACS+ device administration
    • Authentication and authorization policy sets
    • Endpoint profiling
    • Network Access Control (NAC)
  • Integrate Cisco Cyber Vision intelligence into segmentation and access-control workflows.
  • Support Zero Trust initiatives through identity-based segmentation across ACI and SDA environments.
Visibility, Analytics & Observability
  • Deploy and manage ThousandEyes for end-to-end network visibility, path analysis, and performance monitoring.
  • Implement and support Cisco Cyber Vision for OT/IoT asset visibility, device classification, and behavioral analysis.
  • Administer DNA Spaces for wireless intelligence, telemetry ingestion, location analytics, and device behavior insights.
  • Provide operational reporting and actionable insights to leadership teams using observability platforms.
Core Network Engineering
  • Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues across enterprise environments, including:
    • VLANs
    • OSPF
    • BGP
    • STP
    • Multicast
    • QoS
  • Design, implement, and support Palo Alto Networks security solutions across enterprise infrastructures.
  • Create and maintain:
    • Network architecture diagrams
    • Technical standards
    • Operational procedures
    • Asset inventories
    • Runbooks
  • Support infrastructure modernization initiatives, lifecycle upgrades, procurement efforts, and statewide technology projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Cisco enterprise networking environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ACI in large-scale production environments.
  • Deep understanding of ACI technologies including:
    • VRF
    • BD
    • EPG
    • ESG
    • L3Out
    • Contracts
  • Experience integrating ACI with OpenShift VMM and Cilium/Isovalent.
  • Strong experience with Cisco Catalyst platforms and SDA fabric technologies.
  • Hands-on experience administering Cisco ISE, including TACACS+ and policy-based NAC solutions.
  • Strong understanding of ThousandEyes, Cisco Cyber Vision, DNA Spaces, or comparable observability platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • TCP/IP
    • Routing and switching
    • QoS
    • Enterprise network security
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and architectural diagrams.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, highly available, mission-critical environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cisco certifications such as:
    • CCNP Data Center
    • CCNP Enterprise
    • CCIE
    • Cisco Specialist certifications (ACI, SDA, ISE)
  • Palo Alto certifications including:
    • PCCSA Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate
    • PCNSA Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator
    • PCNSE Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer
  • Experience with container networking and virtualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with NIST cybersecurity frameworks and state-level security compliance requirements.
  • Experience with network automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as:
    • Python
    • Ansible
    • REST APIs
  • Prior experience supporting state government agencies or large enterprise environments.
