Job Role: Hardware Engineer
Location: New Albany, OH
Pay Rate: $30-$35/hr on w2 
Interview: 1 Virtual Round

Introduction

We are seeking a dedicated professional to support critical infrastructure operations within a high-security financial organization's data center environment. This role is highly hands-on, requiring a strong technical understanding of hardware, change management, and operational processes in a complex data center setting. The position operates on a shift-based schedule with a strong focus on weekend coverage and structured 10-hour shifts.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong foundational understanding of hardware components (servers, drives, memory, CPUs, etc.)
• Ability to follow and interpret technical documentation and white papers
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (Layer 1 fundamentals)
• Experience with or exposure to ServiceNow (change management/ticketing) and DCIM tools (Sunbird or similar platforms)
• Strong analytical thinking and decision-making ability
• Ability to work in structured, compliance-driven environments
• Must have previous client experience working for this customer in the past 5 years

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Data center operations or small-scale data room experience
• End-user support experience with hands-on hardware exposure
• A certification or equivalent hardware knowledge
• Exposure to infrastructure troubleshooting or technical support roles
• Experience in enterprise or financial services environments

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day data center operations and infrastructure activities
• Review and validate change tickets using ServiceNow
• Ensure adherence to change management policies and procedures
• Analyze dependencies using CMDB and infrastructure tools
• Prepare and coordinate operational work for third-shift execution
• Utilize DCIM tools (e.g., Sunbird, DCIM platforms such as DC Track / Power IQ)
• Perform hardware validation, troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors when required
• Ensure SOP compliance and readiness of work requests before execution
• Support limited physical data center tasks when required (hardware handling, replacements, etc.)
• Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure and network teams
